Casino Arizona will give away more than $85,000 in promotions this July.

Cash giveaways plus food and beverage specials are all part of Casino Arizona’s “Celebration of 7’s” July players club promotion.  Players can earn electronic entries from now through July 27th by playing slots, table games or keno. For every 50 points you earn, using your Player Rewards Card, you’ll earn one entry into the drawings. You can also earn an entry for signing up for a PRC card (if you aren’t a member) or you can earn an entry by going to the Player Rewards Club desk and updating your information.

Drawings for cash prizes of $777 will be held Mondays in July at the Casino AZ Salt River location, 101 and McKellips, and Tuesdays this month at the new Talking Stick Casino and Resort at the 101 and Indian Bend.  There will be 14 winners each day with drawing times as follows:  Mornings — 7, 7:30, 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 and 10 a.m.  Evenings — Every half hour from 7 p.m. until the last drawing at 10 p.m.  That’s more than $10,000 up for grabs at each location per week!

Food and drink specials are also part of the promo with $7.77 breakfasts and dinners on Mondays at the McKellips Road Casino Arizona and $7.77 breakfast specials at The Wandering Horse buffet and Blue Coyote Cafe at the new casino at Talking Stick.

Also, players will earn 7X points on their players club cards every Wednesday this month.  This popular promotion — point multiplier days at Casino Arizona – rewards players for slots, cards and Keno play.

The beautiful new Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino near Phoenix is a perfect spot for a holiday getaway.

The Ohio Players — think “Love Rollercoaster” –  take the stage for a FREE concert on July 3 at the casino.  The doors open at 4 p.m. and the music kicks off at 8 p.m.  Following the free concert, casino-goers can enjoy one of the top fireworks shows in Arizona.  This annual free Fourth of July fireworks show at Fort McDowell is a long-time annual tradition and a favorite of Scottsdale and Phoenix visitors.

TIP:  Looking for a spot to enjoy a casual pre-festivities dinner?  Euro Pizza Cafe in Fountain Hills has yummy sandwiches, salads, pastas and gourmet pizza plus a nice view of the lake and famous fountain.

Beat the Field is just one of the many fun new slot machines at Casino Arizona's recently-opened Talking Stick resort.

Casino Arizona’s posh new Talking Stick gaming and resort property is shaping up to be Scottsdale’s newest go-to gambling destination.  The 240,000 square foot gaming area plus the resort’s many restaurants and the live entertainment showroom are now open at the Loop 101 and Indian Bend location.  The hotel portion of Talking Stick  has struggled to open and is — at this writing — still awaiting final occupancy approvals.  A recent visit to the new casino near Phoenix showed continuing construction on the hotel with the outdoor pool and spa area looking far from completion.  We found out by phone that casino staffers are taking reservations for hotel rooms beginning July 1 and gave a mid-August date for the pools to be open to guests.

We’ve made several visits to this newest Arizona casino and found both pluses and minuses to the property.  Here are some of our observations beginning with the most important part of any casino — the gaming!

Gaming at Talking Stick

Machine Selection — There is a huge variety of both flashy new games — think Sex and the City with Mr. Big as your host — and old customer favorites on the Talking Stick floor.  Some of the hottest slot machines on the market can be found here.  You can play a game new to Arizona, Monopoly™ Planet Go™, where the beloved Mr. Moneybags encounters aliens and other space-themed icons.  There is also the community-based horse racing slot game, “Beat the Field,” which I recently saw hit for a $1,136.19 progressive.  Not bad for a 2¢ game!

Other new slot machines include a  “Life of Luxury” progressive plus slot game “Great Wall” which offers players a progressive that pays in free games. Talking Stick visitors will also find machines based on popular TV shows such as “Happy Days,” “Stargate SG-1” and the aforementioned “Sex and the City” with its four-game screen filled with colorful icons depicting stiletto heels, posh cocktails and of course, the gorgeous stars of the hit show.  Be sure to check out all the floor-wide progressive games, too.  A busy High Limit room rounds out the gaming area.

Poker – The new Poker room maintains its status as the largest in Arizona.  The state-of-the-art room features fifty tables to accommodate players of Texas Hold ‘Em, Seven Card Stud and Omaha Hi-Lo as well as a full schedule of poker tournaments and events.

Table Games — More than 50 tables of Blackjack, Three Card Poker, Let Ride and Lucky Ladies are dealt around the clock. Casino War is also available at Talking Stick.

Video Poker — They’ve taken out our (and many other players!) favorite games:  nickel Spin Poker Deluxe and Fifty Play poker.  (You’ll find lots of the Spin Poker “regulars” now playing at Casino Arizona at Salt River.) They’ve added All-Star Poker with its menu of games such as Chase the Royal and Super Times Pay.  All Star machines include a Spin Poker game but the denomination here starts at 10¢ and playable lines are maxed out at nine.  Pay tables on all the games we saw left a lot to be desired as well.  Also, it was disappointing to see that free play bucks — or as the casino calls it “Power Percs” credits — are not accepted on All Star machines.

Keno — There is a small Keno lounge conveniently located near casual restaurant, the Black Fig, and a circular sports-themed bar.

Casino Arizona's luxurious new Talking Stick Resort (shown under construction) will open April 15th for Phoenix area gamers and visitors.

A “soft opening” is planned for April 15 for the newest addition to the Phoenix and Scottsdale gaming scene — Casino Arizona’s luxurious new Talking Stick Resort.  Located just off the 101 freeway at the Indian Bend Road exit, the new casino features 240,000 square feet of gaming space and will be home to more than 800 slot machines.  Also on-board:  a non-smoking card room offering such games as Texas Hold ‘Em, Omaha and 7-Card Stud plus more than 50 table games including Blackjack, Three Card Poker and Let It Ride. A Keno lounge along with a high-stakes area will complete the gaming floor.

A major part of the new property is the soaring 497-room resort which also opens April 15th.  Spacious suites and lavish high-tech guest rooms await visitors to the hotel which sits adjacent to the world-class golf facilities already in place at the Talking Stick Golf Club.  Designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, the two distinctively different courses have received numerous awards and are gaining great admiration from the golf community.  A spa, numerous dining outlets and entertainment lounges plus meeting space, a ballroom, retail areas and relaxing pool area are also part of this newest Phoenix-area casino resort.

We’ll be posting more info after we tour the property on Thursday.  Note: Not all facilities will be opening on “Tax Day.”  Planned features and amenities will continue to be completed with a “grand opening” for the property slated for sometime in June.

Did you know that “fan,”  “friend” and “tweet” are now verbs?  They are when you’re using them to describe the newest ways to get great deals and up-to-the-minute info on your favorite casinos!  In this new digital age, casinos — as well as lots of other businesses — are using the new online “social media” sites to get their messages out to customers in the most timely of fashions.

Take for instance popular website, Facebook — casually known as FB.  When you sign up for an account (it’s free and easy to do!) you can get in touch with individual users such as family members and old pals PLUS you can  “friend” or become a “fan” of business sites such as local gaming favorites Casino Arizona, Harrah’s Ak-Chin and Fort McDowell Casino.  Whenever the casinos have news or special deals they want customers to know about, they publish the info and, as a fan, you’ll see the information pop up on your homepage.  For instance, this offer from Harrah’s Ak-Chin appeared on my Facebook “wall” this week notifying FB fans and Twitter followers of a Harvest Buffet special for March:

“Harrah’s Ak-Chin wishes everyone a fabulous weekend! Don’t forget to tell your friends about our deals on FB! Currently we have a Harvest BOGO for the end of March. Check out our photo album for more details.” So, just for being a Facebook “fan” of the casino, I got news of an exclusive “Buy One, Get One” free buffet offer!

It's time to collect your entries and go for your chance at cash during Casino Arizona's "Lucky Envelopes" promotion.

Casino Arizona players – it’s time to cash in all the entries you’ve been earning for the casino’s big “Lucky Envelopes” promotion and get your chance to win a share of the $60,000 that will be given away this week!  Guests at the two Phoenix-area casinos who have been playing with their Player Rewards Club cards have been earning entries into the promotion since February 1.  Entries have been earned by slot, cards and keno players to the tune of 10 entries for every 500 Players Rewards Club points.

Players have two nights and lots of chances to win during drawings held Monday at Casino Arizona at McKellips Road and the 101 and Tuesday at the casino’s Indian Bend location.

For each night, here’s how it will work:

• 18 winners will be drawn to select a lucky envelope containing up to $5,000
• Contestants will be drawn at 7:30 pm, 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm
• Envelope selection will begin at 9:00 pm
• Unclaimed prize drawing (if needed) will begin at 9:30 pm

Check-in for the drawings is required.  Guests may check in two hours prior to drawing time by either of these two methods:

1. Automatic check-in occurs from any rated play from slots or table games, beginning two hours prior to each drawing and continuing up until each drawing time.  BE SURE YOUR CLUB CARD IS ACTIVATED!
2. Manual check-in requires players to visit Guest Services beginning two hours prior to each drawing and continuing up until each drawing time.

As always, check with the casino’s players club desk staff for all the rules and regulations.

Club members can pick up this new Total Rewards card at Harrah's Ak-Chin celebrating the casino's 15th anniversary.

One of our very favorite promotions at any casino is the point multiplier event for players club members.  During the promo, points accrued by playing our favorite games are multiplied by 2X, 3X or even more times so we get that much more bang for our gaming bucks.  Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino in Maricopa has just put out an email alerting Total Rewards® Club members that several Wednesdays in March — the 10th, 17th and 24th — are Reward Credit Multiplier days.  On these specific dates, Seven Stars members will earn 7X the normal amount of Reward Credits while Diamond members earn 5X and Platinum member receive 3X their credits.

Keep in mind that these multipliers apply only to Reward Credits and not to Tier Credits, i.e., the credits needed to advance your players club membership level.  The credits that you get during these multiplier days are good for merchandise in the Total Rewards catalogs as well as for dining and other casino-related activities.

To get the multiplier for your level, be sure to swipe your card at the Total Rewards Club desk from 6am ’til 11:59pm on each date to get your extra credits.

Since you have to stop by the TRC desk, go ahead and ask for one of the new “15th Anniversary” club cards with its picture of the casino on the front.  Makes for a nice collector’s item.

The new “Swing into Spring” promo is unusual in that it targets table game players — excluding poker — rather than the more prevalent slot machine and video poker/keno gamers. Spring training tickets are the prizes in selected weekly drawings held from now through March 25th with giveaways happening on Mondays and Wednesdays at the McKellips Road casino and Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Indian Bend location. Drawings will be held at 3 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm for tickets to a local training game.

The Grand Prize drawing happens March 29 at the McKellips Road location with times and prizes as follows:

We just received our newest mailers from Fort McDowell Casino and noticed that this new **expanded** mailer includes our club member offers and news of upcoming special events for not only February but also for the month of March.  (Former mailers contained only one month’s info at a time.)  The colorful piece includes coupons for dinners and buffets plus lots of special bingo coupons for the casino’s well-attended Bingo Hall as well as news on upcoming giveaways and other events.

This same six-panel mailer included info on our free slotplay offers for February and March under the “Crown Credits” heading.  According to the promo piece, the weekly Crown Credits “go in every Monday morning at 12:01 a.m. and expire on Thursday nights at 11:59 p.m.  These credits automatically are on your card and you don’t need a coupon.”

To get great offers in the mail from Fort McDowell Casino and other area casinos, be sure to ALWAYS get a players club card and ALWAYS use the card while playing your favorite games.
